Movie Review: Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Movie

By: Hadley Anderson and Ava Rihlmann

Taylor Swift, considered “The Queen of Pop” has just finished about 8 months of her Eras Tour traveling across the world and has now released a movie in which documents her tour which includes music from all 10 of her albums released over 17 years.

AMC and other movie theatres wanted the Eras Tour movie to have a concert like feel to it. Unlike other movies, audience members are encouraged to wear their “Swiftie” gear and sing/dance along. Fans also kept the heartwarming tradition of trading friendship bracelets inspired by her lyrics “so make the friendship bracelets and take the moments and taste it…” in the song “You’re On Your Own Kid.”

Swiftie Vj Therence appreciates the trend because he believes it creates “a sense of unity and togetherness which is a testament to the special bond between Swift and her devoted fan base.”

Although the Eras Tour movie is very similar to the concert, there are some minor changes. For example, five songs have been cut from the movie set list. The songs that didn’t make the movie are “The Archer” from the Lover set, “no body, no crime” (featuring HAIM) from Evermore, “Long Live” from Speak Now, “Wildest Dreams” from 1989 and “Cardigan” from folklore. Additionally, immersive 3D transitions were added in between the eras like the “Reputation” snake, the “Evermore” forest, the “Red” balloons and the wave that washes “1989” away for “Midnights.”

Swiftie Ella Vilicka, 8th grade student at PIA likes the addition of the transitions because “They make it more interesting in between the eras. I also feel like the whole movie experience was great because for those of us who didn’t go to the concert, it was a great way to feel a part of it.”

With ratings of five stars, tickets are getting harder to find especially since the movie is only running for a limited time in theatres but will be streaming on Disney Plus. You can get your tickets at your local movie theatre. The prices for adults are $19.89 in a reference to her fifth and soon-to-be-re-released album and for kids/seniors the tickets are $13.13 because her lucky number is 13. You can also purchase merchandise such as a popcorn tubs, cups, a free poster, tote bag and more!

WELCOME TO THE ERAS TOUR! Catch the movie in theatres while you can!
